12 Days of Yule: Day Eleven

Welcome to Day Eleven of the 12 Days of Yule! Today's story is, Inked Memories, which is (hopefully!) eventually going to be the first book in my Inked in Oaktown series.

Inked Memories is NOT set in Oakland, however. It was written as part of the Midnight Ink Anthology, which is a collection of stories that all take place at a tattoo shop in New Orleans during the same holiday season. My story ends New Year's Eve (technically early on New Year's Day) which is why I included it here.

Originally, the book for day eleven was going to be Never Haveav I Ever, which has a prologue that takes place on New Year's Eve. But that seemed kind of a stretch since all the rest of the book takes place in March.

Anyway, I believe you can still find most of the other Midnight Ink stories if you check out the other authors' pages.

Here's the download link:

The anthology was so much fun to be a part of! And the cover was fire!

And while the antho itself is no longer available, I think you can still (occasionally) find used copies.

Theoretically, Inked Memories is about celebrity tattoo artist Declan Ross and the girl he left behind in New Orleans. Declan is the bad boy tattooist that viewers love to hate on the hit TV show, Inked in Oaktown. But fame and success has not made him happy.

When he re-connects with his former friend-with-benefits Sophie (girl-doesn't-even-have-a-last-name? WTF!) AKA Sophie Jane, he begins to realize how much of life he's been missing.

But in reality? Sophie really steals the show. Even without a last name. And, I swear, she DID have a last name when I wrote the book, but apparently I never used it, and now I can't recall what it was supposed to be!

However, if and when I write the rest of the Inked in Oaktown books, and Declan and Sophie appear in cameos, I'll be sure and mention her last name.
