This week, on the Romance Writers Weekly blog hop, we're asked, "How do you balance realism and hope in stories of second chances?"
Well, this is an interesting question. Real life can be grim and is always uncertain. So I think we need hopeful romance stories to help keep us from despair. Also, the question seems to assume that second chances are unrealistic, which I don't think is necessarily true. I think hope underpins all romance stories--which is a good thing. Maybe even a necessary thing--and there's nothing more hopeful than a second chance romance.
Which is a very roundabout way of saying that, in any GOOD, well-written romance, the two things balance themselves.
Now, hop on over to Brenda Margriet's page to find out what her take is. And don't forget to check out her book, The Promise of Frost.
