Wine Wednesday: Pelee Island Empress Orange Wine

I received this wine as a gift. I'd been talking about orange wines, for some time, with a friend of mine and when we got together, we both brought each other bottles of orange wine--which we then drank in quick succession. This is what I recall.

First of all, it's gorgeous. The color is a deep gold with an orange cast. The nose is floral, pineapple and guava with hints of applesauce.  It tastes like apples and pineapples too, with hints of tangerine and  something fresh and herbal. It's very delicate so I'd want to pair it with something that wouldn't overpower it. Like afternoon tea, scones, and fresh fruit tarts, maybe cheese and crackers?

I ended up drinking it at room temperature. I think if it had been colder I might have gotten more ideas for what to pair it with. This is not a dessert wine, but I think it would go well with some desserts. I don't think breakfasts wines are a thing, but perhaps they should be? I'd definitely nominate this wine for that category.

Otherwise, I think this would go best for either brunch or tea. Or perhaps a light lunch, perhaps with Spaghetti al Limone?
